Obtain REA Certificate in Spain

What is the REA Registry?

The Registry of Accredited Companies in the Construction Sector, commonly known as REA, is the Registry of Accredited Companies in the Construction Sector. Its function is to confirm that companies providing services in the construction sector in Spain comply with the requirements for specialized training and occupational health and safety established by Spanish regulations. It applies to both Spanish and foreign companies. All companies planning to start operations as contractors or subcontractors must register with the REA, i.e., obtain a REA certificate in Spain.

The REA certificate in Spain is essential for working in construction in the country, as it guarantees that companies have complied with the necessary training and safety regulations that protect workers. Furthermore, this registration is not only mandatory for Spanish companies, but also for foreign companies wishing to operate in Spain on construction or similar projects.

Current regulations

As of August 26, 2008, all companies that intend to use subcontractors to carry out any construction or engineering work must submit a certificate of their contractor registration in the REA. It is necessary to obtain an REA certificate in Spain for electrical installation, assembly and disassembly, maintenance, painting and cleaning work, among others. This applies to both public and private works and ensures that all parties involved comply with established safety and training standards.

It does not matter whether you plan to carry out construction work in Spain for private or public entities. The accounting office of Gestoria Ramon Santafe can fully register your business in the Register of Accredited Companies and obtain REA certification in Spain in your name. The administrative obligations of each subcontractor are verified individually, consulted with the ordering party and, if necessary, with the Public Administration Office, which has jurisdiction in the area of construction work. The registration process can be completed online by submitting the complete set of necessary documents. We also collaborate with companies that specialize in occupational health and safety assessments in the workplace. They are authorized to conduct occupational health and safety training courses for workers and to arrange appointments with occupational health and safety specialists.
