What is the REA Registry?
Registro de Empresas Acreditadas en el Sector de Construcción, commonly known as REA, is the Register of Accredited Companies in the Construction Industry. Its task is to confirm that companies providing services in the construction sector in Spain meet the requirements concerning specialist preparation and OSH following Spanish regulations. It applies to both Spanish and foreign companies. All companies planning to start operations as a contractor or subcontractor are required to obtain an entry into the REA.
As of August 26, 2008, all companies intending to use subcontractors to carry out any construction or engineering work must present a certificate of their contractor register in REA. It is required, among others, for work on electrical installations, assembly and disassembly, maintenance, painting and cleaning, etc.
It does not matter if you are planning to carry out construction works in Spain for private or public entities. Gestoria Ramon Santafe’s accounting office can fully register your business in the Registro de Empresas Acreditadas and obtain REA certification on your behalf. The administrative duties of each subcontractor are checked individually, consulted with the ordering party, and, if necessary, with the Public Administration Office, which has competence in the area of execution of works. The registration procedure can be carried out online by presenting a complete set of the necessary documents. We also work with companies that deal with the assessment of the workplace in terms of occupational health and safety. They are authorized to conduct OSH training for employees and arrange meetings with the occupational health doctor.
